Leo Group owns various rendering plants situated in Bradford, Penrith and Kintore.
Our sites in Bradford and Kintore are dedicated to handling only Category 1 animal by-products. These are classed as high risk and include material that is deemed unfit for consumption including fallen stock, specified risk material and animals infected with disease.
Category 1 animal by-products are processed to produce oil for the biodiesel industry and meal to generate power and to fuel cement works.
Our Penrith rendering plant recycles Category 3 animal by-products which is low risk and includes parts of animals that have been passed fit for human consumption in a slaughterhouse but are not intended for consumption.
The site produces high quality meals and oils used in a variety of products, from pet food and making soaps and cosmetics, to creating advanced forms of renewable fuels such as biodiesel for use in aviation.
